2013 BEER SEMINARS1:45-2:15pm What is cask beer? How is it served? Why does it taste different? Find out everything you ever wanted to know about cask beer from the Expo’s special guest, European brewmaster, Jim Robertson. He’ll educate and entertain festival attendees as he discusses cask beer, its history and popularity. Seating is limited. 2:30-3:00pm Jerry Vietz, Brewmaster at Unibroue, will go through the challenges we encounter as a craft brewer facing the ongoing expansion. He will discuss particularities of the brewery regarding complexity, amount of sku, location, process, etc and how Unibroue makes sure to maintain consistency to preserve the quality standards for which their ales are renowned for. 3:15-3:45pm Sample Brùton Beers! Iacopo Lenci got his start in beer making as a home brewer. But unlike most home brewers, Lenci went pro and is now introducing his Lucca, Italy-made Birrificio Brùton beer to North America. Founded in 2006, the brewery is carving its own craft beer tradition, with some definite influences from Belgium, and creating brews that are beautifully balanced and easy to drink. Brùton’s beers are unpasteurized, unfiltered and undergo secondary fermentation in the bottle that results in somewhat cloudy– opalescent even–beers that have complex aromas and hearty foam heads.
